MCB Bank Limited is a Pakistani international commercial bank headquartered in Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan. The bank has a vast network of 1,551 branches in Pakistan. Pakistan's Nishat Group and Malaysia's Bank May Bank hold the majority of the shares.
The bank was established to provide banking services to the South Asian business community.It was added by Adam G Group on July 09, 1947. The Bank was nationalized in 1974 during the rule of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. It was the first Bank to be privatized in 1991 and was bought by a consortium of Pakistani corporate groups led by Nishat Group. As of June 2008, Nishat Group owns a majority stake in Bank. The president of this Bank is Shoaib Mumtaz.
Mian Muhammad is Managing Director of Mansha Group and MCB. The group is active in domestic economic sectors such as banking, textiles, cement and insurance. The bank established an Islamic banking entity to offer Sharia-compliant products and services, with specialized Islamic banking branches in six cities.
In 2005, the management of the bank changed its name from Muslim Commercial Bank Limited to MCB Bank Limited to explore international markets. It has met resistance to obtaining a license, particularly from Western countries, due to the Muslim word.In 2008, MCB Head Office moved from MCB Tower, Karachi, Lahore to the new MCB house which is located on Ghous-ul-Azam street, commonly known as Jail Road.
