The recruitment of Pakistani government employees and bureaucrats is the responsibility of the FPSC, a federal agency of the Pakistani government.

During the British colonial era, the Public Service Commission was first established in 1926. This commission was established in Pakistan in 1947 under the Government of Pakistan Act following independence.

The Islamic Republic of Pakistan's Constitution, Article 242, governs the Commission at the moment. Under the FPSC Regulations of 1978 and the Rules of Business of 1973, it has been granted autonomy in its work.
